What is the Mouse?

A mouse is a pointing device. We can use the mouse to click on icons on the monitor screen and to open the programs in a computer.

We can use it easier than the keyboard. The mouse can be categorized into two types according to the technology. They are Mechanical Mouse and Optical Mouse. There is a rubber ball in mechanical mouse. It rotates when we move the mouse on a surface.

As well as there are some rollers with the rubber ball in a mechanical mouse. When the ball is rotating, these rollers are also rotating. These rotations make signals and the signals are sent to the CPU through the cable.
A light beam is used in Optical mouse instead of the rubber ball. These mice are more expensive than the mechanical mice. The light sensor gets the light beam when the mouse is moved and the electrical signals are sent to the CPU using the cable.

Optical mice are often used these days. People do not like to use mechanical mice because of some problems. We have to clean them again and again. We can use optical mice for a long time as there are no moving parts inside the mouse.

Using the Internet

Introduction
The Internet is a fast and electronic medium of communication. You can send or receive message from one computer to another through the Internet. It is also a large reservoir of information. You need to perform a search using any of the available search tools such as the search engines.

Search Engines
A search engine is Software that enables users to search any information on the Internet. It is used to find the information on a subject even if the website that contains the information is not known. A search engine mainly uses two tools.

1.      A spider software
2.      Indexer
A crawler searches the Internet for new terms and stores the terms in a database. An indexer then indexes all the terms in the database to make the searching fast. We can follow these steps to find the information from the internet.

What is an ICT Club?

ICT Club is short for Information and Communication Technology Club. The main reason for establishing an ICT Club is for the exchanging of ideas and news relating to Information and Communication Technology. We are the Information and Communication Technology Club of Hilburn International College in Avissawella. Our goal at the Information and Communication Technology Club website is to become a source of technology related information for all students enrolled in Hilburn International Colleges. In addition to that, we also hope that our website will become a resource for ICT Clubs in Sri Lanka as they learn how to establish a new ICT Club or look for ways to improve an ICT Club that they already have going.

As the students who are leaning ICT, you can publish your own articles to this web site and develop your computer knowledge and writing skills. Then the other students of Hilburn family can share your knowledge and you can develop your knowledge with the help of other students. You can get more details from the ICT teachers of the Hilburn International Collage - Avissawella.
